For those who don’t know by now, Vikings follows the life and times of Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking farmer turned Earl turned King, and his way more interesting family.
Of all the characters, Aslaug is one of the most hated. She is also the most misunderstood.

As anyone who ended up here from 3 Chic Geeks knows, I entirely too much money and effort into my nails. I follow manicure Insta accounts, have a nails pinboard, and spend my time hunting for the perfect Slytherin green polish. So, when I noticed that Kawaii Nail Lacquers
a. had a line of Avengers nail polishes
b. were having a halloween sale right around the time I got paid
Well. Let’s just say, shopping happened. I’d been meaning to try some of the fandom polishes that nebulously float across Etsy for a while now, and this seemed like a good place to start. In the past, I’ve mainly stuck with store-bought polish, so this was an interesting experiment for me.
I ended up buying three different shades. The first, Aren’t the Stars and Stripes a Little Old-Fashioned, is a Captain America glitter polish in red, white, and blue. I picked it because I recently started RPing as Captain America in my friend Loki’s RP group, and it’s pretty great. The second, Genius Billionaire Playboy Philantropist, is an orange and red glitter polish, with some huge round holo flakes. I picked it because, duh, Iron Man. And, finally, the third shade is You and I Remember Budapest Very Differently, which, obviously, is a Clintasha-inspired black and red sparkly glitter.
So, in a previous post, I mentioned having marathoned the hell out of CBS “Elementary” when I should have instead been catching up on ABC’s “Agent Carter” because I am the literal worst and also I wanted something that was a little bit… chill? I guess. Murder mysteries have always been a favorite of mine, and, (as anyone who ended up here from 3CG would know) I was reared on a steady diet of everything Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Like, murder. It’s fun. So, anyway, I’ve been a longtime skeptic about whether “Elementary” was as good as “BBC Sherlock” because, well, who wasn’t at first, right? It took me like 2.5 years to even get around to watching it; I expected, at most, mediocrity filled with gimmicks.
So what did I end up getting? Well. Here’s a chat Steph and I have had about “Elementary” and “Sherlock”, and which one, ultimately, is the best one. Ready for the answer to that question? Click through to the rest of the post for all the gory details!
Okay, so, for ages back at 3ChicGeeks, I’ve wanted to do a Friday Favorites thing. Partly because we had struggled with having a 3-days-a-week posting schedule that actually, you know, got posted, and partly because I like sharing things I like with people who aren’t necessarily my Facebook friends list, my guild, my alliance, or my favorite subreddit. Plenty of other blogs do it too; I’m especially into how Everyday Is A Holiday does theirs – pretty things that fit their aesthetic and lifestyle. Our aesthetic is divine hipster geek trash and we are here to share things that fit the divine hipster geek trash lifestyle and aesthetic. What things is that? Continue reading, find out, probably regret everything…
If there is one thing we love here at N&A, It’s women who kick royal ass. And, seeing as the History Channel epic is starting tonight, what better way to celebrate this than dedicating Thursdays to the warrior women of Vikings.
To start off Viking Thursdays, we have Lagertha Lothbrook.
– Spoilers for both seasons –
2013 was the year of Jay Gatsby and Art Deco.
2014 brought us Coven Wear.
Cinema and Pop Culture have a lot to offer in the fashion world. When fans see characters they feel they can connect with, they will try to emulate them. I remember when BBC’s Sherlock first came out, I began wearing dark blue scarves and black pea coats. I also treated everyone like shit, but that’s for another post. The point is, when something is popular in pop culture, a fashion trend is probably going to follow. And It is looking more and more like Film Noir is that trend.
So, break out those statement hats and slather on that red lipsticks, because the era of spies and intrigue is back with a vengeance.
It was a nice day.
Well, it was actually cloudy and rather cold, but the ambiance it gave was nice.
We were at a table at the St. Mark’s Starbucks, sitting between a group of college students and business men discussing the weather. This was the first official blog meeting… and by that I mean Katherine just decided we should start a blog and I sorta went with it.
Loki: I’m fairly sure we didn’t mean to start a blog. We were there to gossip about our friends and get cookies. Then a blog just kind of sort of happened, in the ineffable way that blogs just kind of sort of happen around me.
… So, We created a blog. This blog, to be exact. A Narrative (of sorts) pertaining to certain events in Geekery and Fandom:
THE NICE AND ACCURATE BLOG OF STEPHANIE AND KATE
Stephanie (A Millenial, and part time rare book reader)
Kate (A Demigod)
Remus (Hellhound, and afraid of Chihuahuas)
